Air Niugini has stopped all aircraft overnighting in Madang effective today, Friday 28th June due to the eruption of Manam volcano. Manam is the second volcano to have erupted just days after the eruption of Mt Ulawun in West New Britain.

Continuous Suspension Of Hoskins Flights
Air Niugini flights to and from Hoskins Airport, West New Britain Province continues to be suspended following the eruption of Mt Ulawun yesterday. The airport authority, National Airports Corporation has issued a notice to airmen (NOTAM) advising the temporary closure of the Hoskins aerodrome.

Mount Hagen Services Downgraded Effective From Sunday 23rd June 2019
Air Niugini services to Kagamuga airport, Mt Hagen Western Highlands Province will be operated by Link PNG Dash-8 aircraft from Sunday 23rd June until further notice. This is due to maintenance works on the runway by the National Airports Corporation (NAC). NAC has scheduled the next stage (Stage 4) of runway maintenance works to commence on 23rd June 2019, which means the runway will be temporarily shortened and therefore restricted to Dash-8 operations.

Air Niugini Ready To Take Up The Cairns/Hong Kong Route via Port Moresby
Air Niugini is ready to operate Cairns/Hong Kong route via Port Moresby using its wide body Boeing 767 aircraft, commencing in October this year.�Managing Director, Alan Milne made the airline�s capabilities known during a meeting with business leaders in Cairns recently.Air Niugini�s offer to take up the Cairns/Hong Kong route followed an earlier announcement by Cathay Pacific to cease flights on that route by October this year after operating for 25 years. Mr Milne said � Air Niugini is not new to the Hong Kong route and is not new to Cairns, we already operating three weekly services to Hong Kong as well as five services to each of the other Asian hubs of Singapore and Manila using our Boeing 767 aircraft. We provide convenient connections from Cairns to Asia and the wider Pacific and are already the fastest route from Cairns to Manila.� We are also the fastest one stop route between Cairns and Hong Kong at a little over 9 hours, compared to 13 plus hours via Brisbane and Singapore and at competitive fares.�

Resumption Of Jet Services To Tokua Airport, Rabaul
Air Niugini has resumed its jet operations to Tokua airport, Rabaul since Saturday, 08th June 2019 following the completion of urgent maintenance works on the airport runway by the National Airports Corporation (NAC). Since 21st February this year, Air Niugini services to Rabaul were downgraded from Fokker 70/100 aircraft to Dash 8 with some schedule changes to Hoskins, Kavieng, Buka and Rabaul to cater for the unplanned maintenance works.

Air Niugini Launches A Rural Sales Agent In Ialibu
Air Niugini has officially opened a Rural Sales Agent(RSA) in Ialibu, Southern Highlands last week bringing to total seven RSAs appointed so far to represent ANG by providing its services including sales of tickets to people in underserviced, rural communities who do not have direct access to the airline services. Air Niugini�s Executive Manager, Sales and Distribution �Charlie Wanma told hundreds of people that gathered for the launch at Ialibu-Pangia station that ANG understands the challenges of people moving to and from rural areas into towns and cities to access airline services and therefore has brought these services right to their door steps.

Air Niugini Succesfully Hosts 3rd Annual Kokoda Cup
Air Niugini has successfully hosted the 3rd annual Kokoda Cup match in a colourful ceremony yesterday (Sunday, 05th May) at the National Football Stadium in Port Moresby, coinciding with the Queensland Intrust Cup round 9 match between SP PNG Hunters and Townsville Blackhawks. The cup was carried onto the field by two Air Niugini pilots, First Officers Ponrilei Posanau and Bernice Watinga, accompanied by the lovely cabin crew- all in uniform. The pilots handed over the cup to Air Niugini Managing Director, Alan Milne who later passed it to Chairman of PNG Rugby Football League, Sandis Tsaka.
