Travel Insurance Recommendation
To ensure peace of mind during your travels, Air Niugini strongly recommends purchasing travel insurance. We offer comprehensive coverage through our partner, Paradise Travel Insurance Company, underwritten by Alpha Insurance.
This multipurpose policy replaces all previous insurance products sold at Air Niugini Travel Centres, providing extensive protection for your journey. Passengers are encouraged to insure valuable luggage before travel to safeguard against unexpected events.

Application of Limited Release (LR) Tag at Check in Counter
Air Niugini applies a Limited Release tag to all perishables, fragile items such as TV screens, solar panels, and electronic devices at check-in. While every effort is made to handle these items with care to ensure safe delivery, incidents may still occur. In the event of loss, delay, or damage, the airline is released from liability.
However, Air Niugini is committed to assisting with tracing, investigating, and promptly returning mishandled baggage, accompanied by a formal letter of apology and insurance assistance where applicable.
For goods intended for commercial purposes or items of high value, passengers are advised to use Air Niugini Cargo for shipment as consignment. This allows for a valid claim to be lodged with Air Niugini Cargo in case of loss, damage, or delay.
According to the Airline’s Conditions of Carriage, which align with international industry standards, the airline is not liable for loss or damage to perishable, fragile, or valuable items such as laptops, mobile phones, digital cameras, cash, important documents, or other electronic devices packed as checked baggage, regardless of the airline’s awareness of such contents.
International baggage regulations define checked baggage as limited to clothing and toiletries for travel purposes. Compensation may be offered only if such items are reported as delayed, damaged, or lost due to mishandling by the airline.
Name Tags
When finalising your ticket purchase, please ensure you obtain name tags and a copy of the relevant flyer from the check-in counter staff or sales agent.
Provide a permanent contact email address, landline, and mobile number so you can be easily reached if your luggage is mishandled. Attach the name tag securely to a handle on your bag or place it inside a clear, empty pocket where your contact details are clearly visible.
For any cardboard boxes or eskies containing personal items intended for checked baggage, label them with your full name, contact details, mobile number, landline, and email address. This will facilitate prompt restoration if mishandling occurs during transfers between ports on your travel itinerary.
